Lorraine Bessmer is seasoned professional with 18 years of IT industry experience including 14 years as a data center and Internet professional. Over the last 8 years she has focused on information security in the healthcare industry where balancing protecting patient data with enabling access to the right users has been the focus. She joined a major health system in Portland Oregon, Legacy Health, and led an information security team. Now she has joined St. Luke's in Boise in a similar role. Lorraine is a graduate of Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) with a Master's Certificate in Biomedical Informatics. She is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Third Party Risk Professional (CTPRP).
Lorraine has served on the Board of Directors for the Health Information Management Systems Society(HIMSS), including 2 years as the Idaho Chapter President preceded by Idaho Advocacy Chair. Prior to moving to Idaho, Lorraine served on the HIMSS Oregon Chapter Board for 6 years, acting in a variety of roles including; Programs Chair, Treasurer, and Advocacy Chair. She is also involved in the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) and Information Systems Security Association (ISSA).
