Identity and Access Management

December 9, 2019
2:35pm - 3:15pm
Essex Ballroom

Given the complexities associated with health care environments, effective identity and access management (IAM) is key to limiting security vulnerabilities. A common phrase used to describe (IAM) is “enabling the right individuals to access the right resources at the right time.”

Most access authentication methods rely on usernames and passwords, an approach proven by the success of phishing and hacking attacks to be weak.

In this session, our speakers lead a discussion focused on the critical elements of an IAM program required to manage threats to healthcare organizations. Specifically, these include ransomware attacks; insider, accidental or intentional data loss; attacks against connected medical devices that can affect patient safety.

Key areas of discussion

  • Authentication & authorization
  • Multifactor authentication
  • Remote access
  • Federated identity management
  • Privileged access management
