Hacking Demo: Passwords are Not What They Are CRACKED Up to Be

December 9, 2019
12:10pm - 12:50pm
Essex Ballroom

The number of data breaches caused by weak or stolen passwords climbed from 50 percent to 81 percent over the past three years, according to a recent security training video hosted by the "World’s Most Famous Hacker" Kevin Mitnick. That’s huge, and once a hacker phishes an employee’s password, it becomes a major threat, allowing the crook to mine your organization’s network for the crown jewels.

In an eye-opening demonstration, the audience will help generate a compliant password and the speakers will then use a password cracking tool to break it – in under 60 seconds!

The session also will explore the current realities of password management, and demonstrate how to create stronger passwords that ensure account credentials are not at risk. Attendees will also receive practical recommendations on how to strengthen cybersecurity preparedness in accordance with the new NIST Special Publication 800-63B Digital Identity Guidelines.
