Passwords remain a point of vulnerability for healthcare providers, and while biometric authentication might not be a perfect solution, it’s light years ahead of passwords.
Fortunately, biometrics don’t have to be perfect, they just have to be better, and many of the flaws can be avoided by deploying the right biometric authentication solution and implementing levels of assurance for elevated security needs.
Aetna is doing just that. The insurer is in the midst of a multi-year rollout of its next generation authentication platform across mobile and web applications. In this session, Tim Tompkins, Aetna’s senior director of security innovation, shares the insurer’s approach to using biometrics, discusses the flaws, explains why biometrics offers a significant improvement over passwords, and how to choose a solution that improves your organization’s security profile.
