Jason Zellmer

Jason Zellmer is executive director of technology risk management at Kaiser Permanente, the nation’s largest not-for-profit health plan and health care provider, with annual operating revenue of more than $50 billion. Often referred to as the model for the future of health care, Kaiser Permanente serves more than 9 million members, focusing on prevention and affordable health care for the members and communities it serves through the use of evidence-based medicine and industry-leading technology.

Jason has overall responsibility for risk strategy, information security policy and governance, and risk response. Key areas of focus for Jason’s team include care delivery, health care information exchange, and biomedical device security. The risk management team plays a primary role in stakeholder outreach, risk management, mobile security, and other emerging technologies.

Jason has been with Kaiser Permanente since May 2010, and in his current role since November 2011.  He joined Kaiser as the director of identity and access management systems, a role he held until accepting his current position. 

Prior to Kaiser Permanente, Jason worked for Target Corporation in Minneapolis, where he led information security teams responsible for security engineering and identity and access management.  Prior to Target, Jason served in consultant, developer, and business analyst roles with Ernst & Young and with Kodak.  Jason has more than 15 years of experience in technology and security, and more than 10 years of management experience.
